Article from DRAGBIKE.COM (Words and pictures Ivan Sansom). The 2011 UEM Drag Bike Championship kicked off in Hungary at the Kunmadaras Drag Arena, some two hours to the east of the capital Budapest. The always tricky track surface placed a premium on finding traction (although this is an axiom at all drag racing events), but some numbers that flashed up on the scoreboards really caught the attention and provide the basis for optimism for records to tumble when the tour reaches the UK and Sweden in the next month or so.

The warm temperatures and sun was present in large doses during round #1 of the European Drag Bike Championship in Kunmadaras, Hungary. We saw some rain during the weekend, but the track dried fast and the weather did not interfere with the completion of the event.

A new european speed record was born in Kunmadaras in the Pro Stock Bike category! The highest speed of Jesper Thiel was 300.03 km/h. The best time of Jesper was 7.087 sec (almost record). Congratulation!

The opening round of the European drag racing championship tour took our European correspondent to Kunmadaras, Hungary, for the opening round of the 2011 UEM Drag Bike championship.
